Becoming a better writer has always been a goal for me. It's been a goal for me due to the fact that it calms me down; clears my head; and just to become a better writer for myself. I know i can become a better write and i hope to do so over the course of this semester. I believe in myself enough that I can become a better writer just because it's a big coping skill for me and it helps me get away for once. When I'm writing its like I'm in my own little world and my only focus is getting all of my thoughts out of my head onto paper, but I would like to be able to write better and generate more powerful sentences and paragraphs.
1. Step one that I am going to use to become a better writer is put my phone somewhere away from me so i can't even pick it up for it to distract me from my work. 2. Step two for me is to write more. If I write more then i will have less distractions keeping me from improving my writing skills. 3. Step three to avoiding distractions to become a better writer is to find your own getaway spot that you can go to and escape everything, so that your main focus is on your writing. Kind of like going to your happy place. 4. Step four to avoiding distractions so I can become a better writer is to avoid drama and unessacry conflicts so you don't have to worry about them in the first place. If your avoiding drama and conflicts thats just giving you more time and more of a clear headed mind to become a better writer. 5. Step five to avoiding distractions to become a better writer is to just put your mind to it, if you put your mind to it you can achieve it. 6. Step six for me is to not procrastinate and to actually put my brain to work and actually do the work.

Joan Didion's "Why I Write" is magnificent. It's an incredible story due to the fact that she tells stories in reference to everything she wrote and why she wrote it. She can go back into her journal and look at what her thoughts were one day and then think of that day and remember specifics from that day, and think back on that wonderful; bad; happy; or sad day. She's writing down thoughts running through her head the same way I do. I write because it relieves stress for me. When I don't have someone to talk to about at least my pen and paper will always be right there for me. When I write, most in which I keep to myself, there's a big weight lifted off of my shoulders. Writing to me is an extraordinary thing. When I am writing I'm not thinking about anything other then whats going through my head, sometimes I'll catch myself writing the most random things, but their just thoughts in my head getting put onto paper. I like writing because after I get done writing I am very relieved due to the fact that I am very clear minded because I just got everything going through my mind out and onto paper. Writing is a very special thing to me because once I write down what thoughts are running through my mind I'm relieved. Writing is like therapy to me, sometime's I will sit there and write down every thought going through my head because that's what gets it out for me and that's the therapy to me.
